 Behind the Wall

CONTRADICTIONS
BY BRUCE HODGE

My mind is filled with the essence of things to come
Yet, I cannot break free of the past I struggle to keep my head above the water
Yet, I fall further A constant battle rages on for control of my destiny
Yet, I am at peace The colors of life are vibrant and beautiful
Yet, I cannot see them for I am blind
The music of happiness plays a loud beat
' Yet, the notes fall upon my death ears
I reach out for forgiveness
Yet, I remain unforgiven
I have the weight of the world upon my shoulders
Yet I am not strong enough to stand up on my on
I want to be the best of the best
But I am t he worst of the worst
I only care about myself
Yet, I live to help others
I am a father Yet, I remain a son
I am married Yet, I am single
lam Yet, I am not...

DESTINY
BY BRUCE HODGE

As I gaze out of the window of my mind
I see you and I walking along the river Nile
You as my Queen and I as your King
It was our destiny all the while
You are my Black Pearl
Worth more than anything known to man
I feel the richness of your love
Whenever I hold your hand
My sweet African sunshine
It is you that I will always love
We were destined to be together
By the creator up above At times you may feel lonely
Because we're miles apart However, you will find that I am always with you
Just look inside your heart We have built a great foundation
Together you and I
Our love will outlast the hands of time
Or until the Sun fall from the sky
My Queen you are truly special
For you bring out the best in me
You are my love, my life, my strength
But most of all my destiny

MAN BY BRUCE HODGE
As you read this passage
I hope that you understand
For what I'm about to explain to you
Is what's it take to be a man
A man id always gentle
He's firm at some times
He tries to stay two steps ahead
He always uses his mind He treats his woman like a treasure
A priceless black pearl He would try to move a mountain So that he could give her the world
At all times is he careful
That no tears he makes her cry
But if by chance a tear should fall
He's wipe them from her eyes
Always and forever will he love her
He is with here through thick or thin
And if her heart is broken
With his love it will mend
Never would he harm her
Or strike her with his hands
For if he does otherwise
He cannot be called a man
If ever there is a problem
He'll not walk away
He'll stay there and work it out
Before the end of the day
If he's not like the above
Without you he couldn't stand
For in truth he is just a little boy
Pretending to be a man
